People Power: Creating Extraordinary Impact

The power of community fundraising to ensure a safer future for children caught up in conflict.

At War Child, we see every day what’s possible when people come together. Community fundraising shows the extraordinary impact people can have when they unite around the shared belief - that no child’s life should be torn apart by war.

Over the past few months, we’ve been inspired by the growing wave of community fundraisers stepping up in powerful ways. From individual, personal wins and initiatives to collective action, our supporters continue to demonstrate how community action both big and small can make a real difference for children living through conflict:

👟Henry completed the Wolf Run in September, raising £245 for War Child. Henry shared, ‘I've been learning about some wars in school and I think War Child will be a good charity to raise money for’.

🕊️After an amazing 2024 edition of their art auction, the Doves for Peace team returned in 2025 to raise an incredible £17,393 for War Child! They have now raised more than £36,000 for our work to protect, educate and stand up for children affected by conflict.

Sophie, Safiya and Amara completed one hour of non-stop hula hooping, raising £232.87 for War Child! They were really delighted with the amount they raised and hope it will make a difference to children in war zones who are just like them.

🎵 The All Change Please choir spread festive cheer by carol singing at stations around London in support of War Child, raising £8,462.17!

🚲 Last summer, Briand, Bill and Tony cycled from St Malo, on the English Channel coast all the way across France to the Mediterranean Sea and raised £2,000! This phenomenal trio took on this challenge as it was a great opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause.

☀️Jo wanted to do something for children. So, she did something amazing and climbed Mount Toubkal, raising £3,658.

🏃️Maisie completed the Junior Great North Run for War Child, raising £165. When her mum, Vicky asked her who she’d like to raise money for, Maisie answered ‘to help children where there is war’.

🎽Byron and Sophie raised a total of £2,254 through completing an Ultra Marathon from Žirovnica village to Kranjska Gora via the Julian Alps in Slovenia!

Ready to make a difference?

Whether you want to run, ride, bake, walk, or create, there’s a way for everyone to get involved. Community fundraising is more than just raising money – it’s about solidarity, hope and standing up for children affected by war. Together, we can help create a safer future for every child living through conflict.
